Through our cat sponsorship programme, we're able to support the incredible work Woodgreen does every day, helping vulnerable cats receive the care, patience and love they deserve while they wait for their forever homes. We're delighted to introduce the latest feline we've adopted through the programme –
Stripe.
A New Beginning for Stripe
Stripe is a three-year-old Domestic Shorthair with a story that reminds us just how life-changing kindness can be. Before arriving at Woodgreen, Stripe had spent time living on the streets. Unsurprisingly, everything felt unfamiliar and overwhelming. In those early days, he preferred to stay hidden away, tucked safely beneath a covered corner of his catio, keeping his distance from people. But with the dedication of Woodgreen's experienced team, plenty of patience, and a calm, caring environment Stripe slowly began to realise he was safe.
From Nervous to Needy
It's been wonderful to hear how much Stripe has blossomed. What started as the occasional cautious glance from his hiding place gradually turned into gentle brushes past his carers' legs. Before long, he was confidently exploring his surroundings and actively seeking out human company. Today, Stripe is almost unrecognisable from the nervous cat who first arrived. In fact, his carers say his happy, rumbling purr can now be heard from outside his room. A sure sign that he's feeling relaxed, loved and content. Watching a cat gain confidence like this is exactly why Woodgreen's work is so important.

Perhaps the biggest change of all is how affectionate Stripe has become. He now actively seeks out cuddles and fuss, rewarding everyone with an impressively loud purr.
